Which of your patients might benefit from home care? The following symptoms/needs and diseases are recognized by Medicare as acceptable reasons for ordering home care. You can specify which services you want for your patient including skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and medical social work.

TO RECEIVE HOME CARE, THE PATIENT MUST:
  • Be homebound. This requirement is met if the patient leaves home infrequently and it is a difficult and taxing effort for them to do so. The patient may leave their home for medical appointments.
  • Require a skilled level of care
  • Be under the care of a physician
